Masjid in Chiangmai

When my family and I went to the Arts and Cultural Center in Chiangmai, we learnt that Islam had arrived in Chiangmai. Unfortunately Islam didn't spread very fast there. Alhamdulillah, we stopped by two mosques during our stay there. The first is the Jamek Mosque where we saw many Indian and Pakistanese muslims. We had our Friday prayers there. I think the mosque was double storey building with a separate room for the ladies. Though not new, it was quite big and comfortable to spend your moment of solitude to God. Unfortunately, we were unable to communicate with any of those who came to the mosque because of language problems. Therefore we only used sign languages.
The other mosque, Jameah Sheck Abdullah Al Kelabi, was built in 2002. The mosque, still new,was a single storey building that has an Islamic school in its compound. We noticed many teenagers around the area with their Islamic uniforms there. We were grateful to see the muslims there but quite dissappointed as we were unable to communicate with them. Perhaps it is better for those who would like to visit Thailand to learn a few basic words to communicate in Thai. We were fortunate to have Jay as our tour guide who is fluent in English. Jay was a very helpful tour guide.
Nevertheless we were grateful to see and meet the muslim brothers and sisters in Chiangmai.
