Tour Guides

I had always love travelling. I travelled with my family most of the time rather than in large tour groups. My husband I felt that travelling in a small group is easier and more comfortable. Sometimes we used tour guide services especially when we travelled to a non English speaking place or country or a place where it was difficult to get halal food.Another important  factor that made us choose the tour guide services is that he or she could ensure to find a place where we could perform solat when we were unable to reach the hotel on time. The tour guide that really impressed us are the ones that we had during our trip to Medan Danau Toba and Chiangmai.

In our Medan Danau Toba Trip, our tour guide is Mulyadi, a very talkative and informative person. Right after we got into the van at the airport, Mulyadi gave a lenghty information on the places that we were going to visit and a brief history on Medan. Then while we were on our way to Danau Toba, he told us about the Batak people, their way of life and the food that they eat. Upon reaching Danau Toba, he had made sure that we got  rooms with excellent  view of the lake and had a boat ready to be board right in front of our room!Yes, we board a boat in front our door step. In Samosir Island(an Island in Danau Toba), he also gave a lenghty information about the life of the Batak people who had lived there. We were grateful to get so much information from him. Being a talkative person, he only stopped talking when he noticed that most of us were sleeping because we were tired from the non stop travelling. Indeed I highly reccomend him if I know anybody who would like to travel to Danau Toba.

Another tour guide that that I highly reccomend is Jay, from our trip to Chiangmai. Though not really fluent in English, Jay tried very hard to give a lot information regarding the places that we had visited. First, he gave a brief history of Chiangmai, then when we reached a certain tourist spot he will give some information about it since most of the information there was in Thai language. He had also made sure that we stopped over at mosques so that we will not miss our solat. Jay is also easy to get by. He did not feel hesitant  to stop at any places requested by us eventhough he had an ittinerary to follow. Oh yes, he had made sure we went to every place stated in the ittinerary.Once we  experienced a tour guide who was reluctant to go the places stated in the ittinerary that we had to remind him that it is in the ittinerary. This tour guide is not in our Chiangmai trip but somewhere nearby. One unique thing about Jay is that he had always made sure we were served with fruits in  every meal.

Using a  tourist guide gave us a lot of benefit, indeed.
